Athletics
The Vineyard Christian School invests in the growth and the development of the whole student. In addition to academic and spiritual transformation we provide many physical growth opportunities at the school beginning at the Pre-K level all the way up through the 12th grade.
Athletic programs at VCS are designed and implemented to foster individual skill development within the context of strong community. The coaches and staff reinforce the maturity and community oriented culture at VCS. You will often hear varsity teams chanting on the court or on the field sayings like “One Way . . . .Every Play . . . .Every Day.” We take our commitment to grow in every area, including athletics seriously, while not putting all the pressure on winning. Student athletes are taught to reflect on their own strengths and weaknesses as well as those of the team and then go out and compete to improve on those regardless of how the guest team is playing.
Younger students have access to programs that are developmental in nature like Tee-Ball, Mini-Revolution soccer, etc. These are typically organized and run by volunteer coaches and parents on Saturdays so that the whole family can enjoy the experience.
Currently, VCS participates in the Maine Christian School Sports League with some great Christian schools from Waterville to South Portland. Although the competition is rigorous, we strive to develop encouraging relationships with players from other schools as part of our program.
